New album and tour: While Katy Perry wraps up her Play residency in Las Vegas later this year, she's already planning on releasing a new album and embarking on a new tour

Exciting news for Katy Perry fans! Although she’s still in the midst of her Play residency in Vegas, Katy is already looking ahead to future projects. She’ll be dropping a new album and hitting the road for a tour in the near future.

Opening up: The 38-year-old singer and American Idol judge - who made headlines over the weekend for inviting Kim Kardashian's daughter North on stage - opened up about her future plans in a new interview with Out

In a recent interview with Out, the 38-year-old singer and American Idol judge shared her thoughts on her Play residency in Las Vegas. The residency has already concluded its seventh leg, with three more legs planned for mid-May, late July and early August, and early October to early November. Perry expressed her pride in the show, calling it an all-thriller, no-filler greatest hits show that she wishes she could bring to the rest of the world. However, she acknowledged that it’s not technically possible due to the logistics of carting around OTT toilets and bathtubs.

Perry also spoke about closing the chapter on her residency, which allows her to start a new chapter. She expressed excitement for the potential of her story to continue. The singer revealed that she had been thinking about the residency pre-pandemic, but the COVID-19 pandemic allowed her the time to plan it out properly. As a result, she has many memories of coming to Las Vegas, where she used to vacation with her family and visit her grandmother.

The Play shows pay homage to the LGBTQ community, and Perry admitted that she wouldn’t be where she is in her career without their support. She credited the community with being big admirers, fans, and influences on her. Perry further revealed that the fanbase that comes to the Play show is very much the LGBTQ community, which makes up approximately 50% of the audience.

Wrapping up: Saturday night's performance wrapped up the seventh leg of the residency, with a leg in mid-May, another in late July and early August and the final leg that spans from early October to early November

Closing out: The seventh installment of the residency came to a close with Saturday night’s show. The next leg is scheduled for mid-May, followed by another in late July to early August, and the final stretch will run from early October to early November.

Pre-pandemic: The singer continued that the residency was something she was thinking about 'pre-pandemic' but the COVID-19 pandemic allowed her the time to plan it out

Before the outbreak of COVID-19, the artist had been contemplating the idea of a residency. However, the global pandemic gave her the opportunity to properly strategize and organize it.

Connected: 'I feel very connected to it. It's where we used to vacation. I used to come to Vegas and visit my grandma. My parents used to drop us off in the basement of the Excalibur! I remember all of it,' she added

Interconnected: “There is a strong sense of interconnectedness that I feel towards this place. It holds a special place in my heart, as it used to be our go-to vacation spot. Whenever we came to Vegas, I always made sure to visit my grandmother. Fond memories flood back as I recall my parents dropping us off in the basement of the Excalibur hotel. Everything about this place is etched in my memory.”

Bucket list: Despite working on a new album and planning a new tour, she still has one big 'bucket list' item - to be a guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race

List of dreams: While juggling her forthcoming album and tour, there is still one major aspiration that she hopes to fulfill – the opportunity to serve as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
