A kind-hearted resident of Alicante’s Elche city has become a hero overnight after saving a sickly mastiff puppy from the brink of death. The unnamed individual stumbled upon the poor creature in the Urbaser cleaning company’s premises and couldn’t resist lending a helping hand when he saw its pitiful condition. This act of kindness has sent ripples of admiration across the country.
The young boy weighs only 18 kilograms and is not just undernourished, but also has an agonizing abscess on his ear and face. This infection could have caused worms to gather in those areas.
Luckily, the person who saved him opted to bring him to Hondon de las Nieves and reached out to the Huellas Salvadas Animal Protection Association in Elche. The group provided the necessary care for the puppy and eventually transferred him to another vet clinic to undergo additional exams. Currently, his state is considered critical by the medical staff attending to him.
The medical professionals are putting in all their efforts to rescue the life of this fighter, but the reality is that a significant portion of the responsibility lies with him. He has been named after the Norse king, Ragnar Lodbrok, in tribute to his valor and bravery. The organization has asked the public for help in covering the exorbitant medical expenses, which have already soared to over 1,000 euros within a day.
Ragnar’s condition has improved, but he still requires round-the-clock monitoring at the veterinary center, leading to increased expenses. Furthermore, a CT scan was conducted recently; however, people’s generosity knows no bounds as donations have started pouring in. Huellas Salvadas has shared details on where donations can be made and continues to update supporters on Ragnar’s progress as this brave warrior fights to recover.
According to recent comments, Ragnar seems to have become more relaxed and didn’t need to be sedated for his scan. It appears the young child has come to understand that those around him are there to help and his past of fear has come to an end.
Currently, the medical professionals are required to conduct a biopsy on the puppy. Apart from the infection, it has developed a cluster of cells on its head. Thus, it is crucial to eliminate any possibility of a tumor. The course of action will be determined based on the test results. During this time, we urge everyone to support Ragnar in any way possible. We request you to share his story far and wide to raise awareness about his case. He is determined to survive, and we must extend our help to him. Every contribution counts, no matter how small it is.
