Recently, a concerned citizen in Southern California reached out to Logan’s Legacy dog rescue regarding three deserted puppies in their vicinity. Due to prior engagements, the founder, Suzette Hall, was only able to visit the location towards the end of the day. However, a few of her friends residing in the same area came forward to assist with the matter. Upon arrival, the rescuers discovered the puppies situated exactly as described by the individual who reported the situation – snuggled together on the pavement. The trio remained seated, back-to-back, with a steely gaze fixed ahead, seemingly guarding each other. Notably, each pup refused to move from their spot, as they were eagerly awaiting their owners’ return.
Following conversations with locals, the rescue team of Hall discovered that the dogs were left by their owners near Magic Johnson Park in Los Angeles. The dogs ran towards the park as soon as they were let out of the car and the family drove away. Many cars almost hit them as they made their way to safety. The dogs remained alone in the park for several days, hoping that their family would come back to get them, but nobody did. When Hall’s team finally arrived, the dogs were sitting silently on the sidewalk. However, with the temperatures rising, they ran off in search of shelter, making sure to stay together. Despite being under a parked car, they huddled closely together to keep each other company and safe from the heat.
Normally, Hall and her crew depend on gentle canine traps to save abandoned dogs. However, to their amazement, this particular family didn’t require a cage at all. “My rescuers offered them food from their hands and beckoned them closer,” Hall explained. “To our surprise, they came right up to us.” Initially, two of the puppies were cautious, but the sole female in the litter trusted her saviors instantly. The crew scooped her up, placed her in their van, and witnessed as her two brothers eagerly hopped in behind her. “They wouldn’t leave their sister’s side,” Hall remarked.
After the puppies were rescued and taken into the van, the rescuers realized how much they had been neglected. According to Hall, these poor animals were covered in ticks and mats, with each of them having around 40 ticks or more. However, despite their discomfort, the three dogs were ecstatic to be reunited, and one of the rescuers drove them to her house. Throughout the journey, the puppies remained close to each other and seemed inseparable. Once they arrived, the woman shaved down every one of the pups to free them from the mats and ticks. The dogs felt significantly better after the grooming session, but nothing was more comforting than snuggling together with their siblings that night. As Hall explained, the puppies spent the whole night cuddled up next to each other.
Stray dogs often form bonds with each other to survive, but according to Hall, these particular pups had a special connection. Although dogs usually use each other for safety on the streets, these dogs, named Polly, Damien, and Barkley, were truly bonded. They would cry if one of them went out without the others for any reason. Although they are now in foster care, their story isn’t finished yet. The trio is hoping to be adopted together into a loving home. Seeing them thrive together is heartwarming, and Hall hopes they will find their forever family soon. Despite no longer having to fight for survival on the streets, Polly, Damien, and Barkley are still sticking together.
